Backround & Experience

Food science applied to canine nutrition

I help pet food businesses developnutritionally well-considered and practically feasible dog food products, while helping dog owners make informed decisions about their dogs' nutrition.

Kerit-Lii Joasoon, food technologist and canine nutrition consultant

I am a food technologist with a Master's degree in Food Science and professional experience in dog food development, recipe formulation, ingredient selection, nutritional evaluation, production, and product quality.

My specialist focus is natural and minimally processed dog food, including raw, air-dried, freeze-dried, fresh, and other animal-based feeding formats.

I work with both pet food businesses and individual dog owners. For businesses, I provide support with product concepts, formulation, nutritional balancing, ingredient selection, production considerations, and existing recipe evaluation.

For dog owners, I provide practical nutrition guidance based on the dog's age, activity level, body condition, current diet, preferences, and individual needs.

My approach

Science-based, practical, and individual

Evidence-based

Recommendations are grounded in nutritional science, accurate calculations, ingredient knowledge, and a clear understanding of the individual dog or product.

Ingredeints & Processing

My work focuses on high-quality animal ingredients and minimally processed feeding approaches, while also considering nutritional balance, safety, and practicality.

Individual solutions

There is no single feeding solution for every dog or every business. Each project is considered according to its goals, limitations, target customer, production method, or the individual dog's needs.

How it started

From personal interest to a professional career

My interest in canine nutrition began with my first dog, Alassie, who was never particularly enthusiastic about regular kibble. This led me to explore different feeding approaches and learn more about how food can influence a dog's digestion, coat, wellbeing, and quality of life.

That interest eventually led me to study food science and build professional experience in dog food development. Today, I use that combination of scientific education, product development experience, and practical knowledge to support better feeding decisions and better dog food products.
